Blackwing Foundation partners with Little Kids Rock to support adoption of their Modern Band Program on national and regional basis providing both funding and outreach support.
Learn more about San Joaquin County Office of Education Visual & Performing Arts Program including thier honor bands and their successful Artists in School program which Blackwing Foundation is supporting in a unique new pilot program.
The Blackwing Foundation currently collaborates with University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music, including it’s Music Education department, on outreach to strengthen music education on a Regional Basis in Northern California. The Conservatory also works in collaboration with other Blackwing Foundation Partners in these and other projects related to enhancing curricular development in music. As one early example the Blackwing Foundation partnered with the Conservatory’s Brubeck Institute and Musical Artist Christian Tamburr in developing it’s initial Ignite the Arts Tour event in 2012 wihc impacted 2000 students in over 19 cities.
Blackwing Foundation is working with renowned violinist and fiddler Mark O’Connor and The New American School of String Playing to bring awareness to and support adoption of the O’Connor Method as a model for increasing both learning in a diverse American cultural musical Heritage as well as increasing creativity and improvisation as part of violin and other Strings instrument sills development.
Christian has been with us since the beginning. Partnering in 2012 to implement a novel 19 city Ignite the Arts Tour with his quintet that impacted over 2000 students in the Southeastern U.S. The tour brought a diverse series of jazz workshops headed by Christian and 4 other world class musicians to High School jazz bands and ensembles coupled with evening music outreach concerts to benefit each schools. The Foundation also collaborated with the University of the Pacific Brubeck Institute on this innovative tour. The program has since transitioned to the Ignite the Arts grants program. Christian continues to assist the foundation in an advisory role and with guest appearances at outreach events.
