Heather Martinez, the visionary behind Let’s Letter Together, is a dedicated artistic lettering expert. She has devoted her life to the art of lettering, inspiring others to get creative with innovative mark-making techniques.

Heather teaches internationally both in person and online, offering courses for visual practitioners, graphic recorders, and trainers. She truly has something for everyone. Additionally, Heather is a renowned visual practitioner. She travels globally to capture key discussions and ideas through visual note-taking. This unique skill makes complex information more accessible. It also showcases her ability to blend art with practical communication. Heather’s mission is to help others express their creativity, a commitment that shows in every workshop and class she offers.

LET’S LETTER TOGETHER X BLACKWING FOUNDATION

In collaboration with Heather Martinez, the Blackwing Foundation presents new program: The Pathways to Creativity: Lettering Series. It’s designed specifically for classroom teachers. This series helps students and young adults in 3rd grade and up to improve their own lettering style.

What makes the Lettering Series unique?

  • Focused Pathways: We purposefully designed the series with multiple pathways. The first, Introduction to Lettering, launched in August 2024, followed by Letter Like a Graphic Novelist. Subsequent pathways will include Intro to Cursive, Creative Styles, and Brush Lettering.
  • Simple Supplies: Each pathway includes a printer-friendly PDF packet. Students only need a pencil and paper to get started.
  • Vetted Video Content: Heather Martinez filmed each video exclusively for this series. She invites students of all levels to hone their lettering craft.
  • Enhanced Classroom Experience: We also developed supplementary content beyond the videos. These resources give students concrete examples to practice their new skills.

Our goal is to make lettering more accessible nationwide. By offering classroom-friendly pathways, we empower teachers to integrate lettering into their lesson plans seamlessly. Ultimately, we want to inspire creativity in all students. We also champion them to develop their voice through written expression.
