The Blackwing Foundation and the Chuck Jones Center for the Arts were the recent beneficiaries of an exciting Blackwing Sessions Arts Benefit Concert. Hosted June 25th at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in Costa Mesa, CA by Blackwing Music and the Blackwing pencil brand, proceeds from the benefit show will go to support the arts education efforts of both the Blackwing Foundation and Chuck Jones Center. The show featured, both individual performances followed by a singer-songwriter in-the-round show of Blackwing Musical Artist Willie Tea Taylor along with special guests Andre Coombs, Willie Watson and Mike Witcher.
The evening was part of the 3 day long Blackwing Experience Popup event, which also included The Party for the Pencil on night one and a panel discussion titled “Chuck Talk” featuring Craig Kausen, grandson of Chuck Jones and CEO of the Chuck Jones Center, Blackwing founder Charles Berolzheimer, and Dreamworks Animation Story Artist Jenny Lerew. Charles Solomon, internationally recognized historian of animation and author served as facilitator for the discussion which focused on the tools we use for creativity and the role of analog vs. digital.
Blackwing musicians and prior collaborators Christian Tamburr and Ted Russel Kamp also participated in various aspects of these events supporting the Foundation.
