LOCAL PARTNER: SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
Sometimes, a great program just needs a small boost to reach the next level. Artists-in-School, a successful program by the San Joaquin County Office of Education, does just that. It brings professional artists into the classroom. These artists contribute their experience and vision by creating their own standards-based lesson plans.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the artists designed their curriculum around social-emotional learning and mindfulness. Students will go on an immersive journey through different visual and performing arts. They will develop their creativity, self-expression, and a love for the arts.
Unfortunately, this popular program has left some classrooms waiting for an artist. To help with this need, the Blackwing Foundation designed the Art Series . This allows all students to enjoy creative expression and the visual arts.
HOW BLACKWING FOUNDATION IS HELPING
The Blackwing Foundation currently sponsors John McCandless STEM Charter of Lincoln Unified School District and their partnership with the artists in schools program, serving third through fifth grade classrooms. The program ensures that all 3rd-5th graders receive 16 sessions of art each year. After their 3 years, students will have engaged in over 48 hours of art instruction using the different mediums of art.
