Heather Martinez, the visionary behind Let’s Letter Together, is the ultimate artistic lettering guru. She has dedicated her life to the art of lettering and inspiring others to unleash their creativity through innovative mark-making techniques. 

Heather has a public-facing studio that you can visit anytime in Durango, Colorado, at The ArtRoom Collective. As a welcoming space for creativity, Heather provides lettering classes for learners of all experience levels. Beyond that, Heather teaches internationally both in person and online through Let’s Letter Together, offering courses for visual practitioners, sketchnoters, graphic recorders, facilitators, and trainers. She truly has something for everyone.

In addition to her teaching, Heather is a renowned visual practitioner, traveling globally to capture important meeting discussions and ideas through visual note-taking. This unique skill makes complex information more accessible and engaging, showcasing her ability to blend art with practical communication.

Heather’s mission is to facilitate the creative expression of others, a commitment that shines through in every workshop and class she offers.

LET’S LETTER TOGETHER X BLACKWING FOUNDATION

The Blackwing Foundation, in collaboration with the talented Heather Martinez from Let’s Letter Together, is proud to present an inspiring initiative: Pathways to Creativity: Lettering Series, designed for dedicated classroom teachers. This series is intended for 3rd grade students and beyond, allowing for students and young adults to improve upon their own lettering style. 

What Sets Pathways to Creativity: Lettering Series Apart?

  • Focused Pathways: The Lettering Series is purposefully designed with a series of pathways. The first, Introduction to Lettering, launched August 2024.
    • Sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media to be the first to know when subsequent pathways drop. These pathways include: Letter Like a Graphic Novelist, Intro to Cursive, Creative Styles, and Brush Lettering.
  • Simple Supplies: Without the hassle of extensive preparation, each pathway comes with a printer-friendly pdf packet. Equipped with a pencil and paper, students are welcomed to embrace the analog lifestyle through lettering.
  • Vetted Video Content: Heather Martinez, our lettering pal,  filmed each video exclusively for the Lettering Series. She invites students of all levels to hone their lettering craft.
  • Enhanced Classroom Experience: Beyond the videos, the foundation has developed supplementary content, providing students with concrete examples to practice and apply their new lettering skills.

Our collective vision is to make lettering more accessible to classrooms nationwide. We believe that by offering classroom-friendly pathways, complete with vetted videos and additional classroom resources, we empower teachers to seamlessly integrate lettering into their lesson plans. Our ultimate goal is to inspire creativity in all students engaged in the pathways, championing them to develop their voice through written expression.
